Japan's oldest fundamental training center for mountain asceticism, founded by En no Ozuno approx. 1,300 years ago.
Shippōryū-ji Temple is one of the few places in Japan where visitors can experience a one-day ascetic practice. Under the guidance of Mt. Inunaki Shugenja practitioners, participants visit the ascetic sites and places of worship on Mt. Inunanaki and perform ascetic practices in the Gyoja no Taki waterfall.
